Taxes

One of the reasons our Founding Fathers made the Declaration of Independence from England is listed therein:

"For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent"

Seems that we have come full circle.

I propose there be an amendment to the Constitution to provide that any new increase in taxes first require a 60% majority in the House of Representatives followed by a ratification of the new rate by the people. Such ratification would likewise require that 60% of registered voters approve any increase.

This assumes that a flat-tax or Fair Tax is in effect where everyone has the same tax rate.

Its time we declare our independence again.
