The Ex-Leftist Speaks Out

  1. Equal Protection Under the Tax Law + Perverted Taxes

We are supposed to have equal protection under the laws. Any tax which is not applied equally to all voters should be declared null and void. If a general revenue tax does not apply equally to everyone, then you can have any tax code written to apply to just a few (which we already have)-- or even a minority of one.

We should be looking to eliminate the number of taxes and simplifying the tax code -- not adding additional taxes. Certain taxes such as the death tax or gift taxes are a totally perverted usage of government. Why should I have to pay a tax on something I give to someone else? I was already taxed once when I earned the money. It is purely government theft due to corrupt politicians holding power and perverting the system of freedom established by the founding fathers.

Under good government the taxes are low. Under bad government the taxes are high.

    Unfortunately, we have bad government.

  2. We Need a National Debt Reduction Sales Tax (DRST) Now

I would favor a national "debt reduction sales tax" (DRST) with all revenues going strictly to debt reduction. This would be a tax that EVERYONE who made a purchase would pay and so everyone would have an interest in seeing it decreased and ultimately eliminated by paying down the public debt. I wouldn't apply it in a recession. However, in place of the fed increasing interest rates to slow a heating up economy, I'd turn on and/or increase the DRST which would have the same effect.

It would also help to have a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution and a presidential line-item veto. But get the DRST going and the people will then keep pressure on the over-spenders in BOTH parties to curb deficit spending and get our fiscal house in order.

  3. How Does One Evaluate Historical Figures Such as Slave Owners?

The left wing constantly denigrates the founding fathers of the United States due to the fact that many of them owned slaves or had other shortcomings based on current values. So how is one to evaluate historical figures that lived in different times than our own, had shortcomings, yet contributed so much towards the liberty of mankind?

What is most important for us to know is whether a person has moved us forward towards liberty or away from liberty. Its the direction these people moved in their own time and contributed to successive generations that counts. In football terms, did they move the ball down the field towards the goal of liberty or backwards?

Look at the left wing in all times. Their only attempt to move people away from liberty. And, accordingly, they are evil at all times.

  4. Lets Have Health Care Reforms That the Majority of the People Want

If the Congress and the President want a health care bill that the PEOPLE support, there is no reason why they can't have that. The problem is that the democratic leadership in the congress wants a health care bill that the majority of Americans do not want. It is stunning that the democrats intend to ignore the will of the people and instead use their majority status to push through a bill that only a minority of Americans support.

If Scott Brown wins in Massachusetts (and I hope he does), the democrats will have to re-evaluate the situation. Hopefully, they will start over with a health care bill that can garner bipartisan support and thus the support of the public. Isn't a bi-partisan health care bill what President Obama promised in the first place? Or do we chalk this up as just another in long line of Obama campaign lies.

Lets have health care reforms that the majority of the people want.

  5. Ron Paul: Simply Believing in Liberty

Ron Paul is simply right wing. All that means is that he believes in personal liberty. In other words, he loves freedom. That's all. His philosophy of government, like the founding fathers, is all about freedom from tyranny.

The left wing, to be criticizing Ron Paul, is like the slave master criticizing the slave just because the slave believes he has a right to be free. Many of us do not share the views of the slave master (i.e. the tyrannical left).
