Although Governor Schwarzenneger is a Republican (although on the left wing of his party), what he is asking for is unmistakably very left wing. It is typically left wing to utilize government to force one group to pay for the expenditures of another group. Our founding fathers called this taxation without representation. Non-Californian's such as myself would be taxed to pay for services in California which I cannot receive. If the government of California does not have enough money, it should either raise taxes (foolish in a recession), cut services, or both. And, they should learn the lessons that any adult should know: (1) you do not spend more money than you take in and (2) you always maintain a "rainy day" fund for difficult times.
