The democrats keep talking about taxing the so-called "Cadillac" health care plans to help pay for the overall costs of their health care proposals in congress. At the same time, they have been pushing for universal health care which would not only would be provided by the government, but not be taxed. So which is it? My point of view is that health care in any form should NOT be taxed. On the contrary, all health care expenses should be fully deductible from your federal income taxes. The way it currently stands, the federal government says you have to pay taxes on your income BEFORE you are allowed to save money and utilize it on staying alive and healthy. This it totally absurd! If the democrats truly want universal health care, lets first take the VERY EASY step of making all heath care costs 100% tax deductible for everyone. This could, and should be, be done right now.
