Possible .. tho I doubt it would be that quick.

Evolution has nothing to do with causing the collapse .. esp as the US
is a country where there is very low believe in evolution. Perhaps it
is that lack of rational thinking that is sending the US on the road
to destruction.

Although one could say that the collapse of societies that are weak is
part of an cultural/social evolution.
